General Description:
The Senior Account Technician performs complex accounting, operational and technology related duties to facilitate the overall accountability and efficiency of the School Nutrition Services Department Meal Programs in accordance with USDA guidelines administered through the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE -SNP) while maintaining variety of financial and statistical data records and reports. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides setup and maintenance of all school nutrition services (SNS) meal accountability and meal production software
  • Implements and trains all managers on-site and remotely on SNS propriety software
  • Maintains USDA compliance benchmarks and internal audit controls
  • Assists with monthly generation and analysis of school cafeteria profit and loss reports
  • Processes weekly SNS account payable food and supply invoices
  • Compiles and assists with complex statistical and financial reports for VDOE and other entities
  • Administers and manages annual USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) school funds
  • Supports the development of, and maintenance of, accountability standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintains the SNS website according to RPS standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Two- year business administration/office management program and at least two years of experience or training reviewing fiscal, financial or statistical records or an equivalent combination of training and experience required
  • Knowledgeable of USDA accountability compliance regulations
  • Knowledgeable of methods and practices of financial and statistical record/book keeping and report preparation techniques
  • Experience with and working knowledge of accountability software, preferably School Nutrition Meal Program (such as Horizon, MCS, One Source)
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products and Google applications
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and correct errors in a variety of computerized mathematical computations and financial records
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines; ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision

Bilingual/fluency in Spanish preferred
