General Description:


The Preschool Aftercare Site Coordinator is responsible for planning for and organizing the aftercare program and providing program oversight at the assigned preschool location in alignment with program-wide expectations.   Responsibilities include staff recruitment, supervision, student registration, record keeping, and coordinating with other site coordinators.  The Site Coordinator will plan and oversee developmentally appropriate activities ensuring the wellness of all children in the aftercare program, maintaining relationships with parents, and providing support and supervision to aftercare counselors. Work hours are from 2:20p.m or 3:20p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Friday on regular school days for students. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee program registration functions, call parents on the interest list to share registration info, Confirm registrations, 
  • assign children to classes/counselors
  • Compile parent/guardian/caregiver contact lists and emergency contact information 
  • Compile and share student health information with counselors around medical needs, allergies, etc. to ensure the health and safety of children in the program 
  • Provide counselor expectations, training, support and supervision, ensuring student safety and well-being at all times
  • Determine coverage plans for absent teachers
  • Respond to children's medical and health needs
  • Conduct appropriate record keeping and documentation such as collecting daily attendance and meal counts, maintain parent communication logs and collecting staff time sheets
  • Contact parents for any concerns
  • Regularly visit aftercare groups monitoring for appropriate activities and positive, caring, safe environments for children
  • Collaborate with principal on needs
  • Provide supervision to ensure safe student dismissal procedures are followed and children are picked up by approved persons
  • Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately 
  • Ensure aftercare spaces are left in condition for use during regular school functions the following day 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the school principal

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating and running an aftercare program with young children in a childcare or school setting 
  • Minimum of an Associate degree required
  • Understanding to the needs and safety of young children
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with parents/guardians and caring for young children 
  • CPR/AED Certification appropriate to age group highly desirable
  • First Aid Certification highly desirable
