General Description:
The Delivery Driver, School Nutrition Services (SNS) loads and drives a truck to pick up and deliver SNS items such as food, paper items, equipment, and other supplies to and between schools and central offices.  The Driver also maintains logs and supports the SNS Department with other needs as applicable.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Loads and drives a truck to pick up and deliver SNS items such as food, paper items, equipment, and other supplies to and between schools and central offices
  • Transports special functions foods and supplies as needed
  • Maintains tracking/transfers records of food/supply materials and travel logs
  • Supports the summer feeding program
  • Assists in the summer cleaning projects in kitchens
  • Occasionally assists with the organizing and storage of food and supplies in designated storage areas as required by food safety and health code regulations; rotates perishable and nonperishable food items; arranges and labels stock as needed, during the summer months to monitor temperatures of perishable food holding sites
  • Assists in training substitute employees in the essential functions of the Delivery Driver position
  • Maintains a clean SNS vehicle
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license is required including a satisfactory driving history which includes no at-fault accidents or moving violations during the past year, or no more than one at-fault accident or moving violation during the past three years and no DUIs (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs) convictions
  • Minimum of 5 years of driver experience preferred
  • Ability to drive a vehicle with a standard transmission
  • Ability to use hydraulic lift-gate, hand dolly, and other aids to transport goods
  • Ability to read written route instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to use a computer/iPad/cell phone preferred
  • Ability to organize a work schedule, and materials and maintain accurate tracking records
  • Ability to perform required duties with minimum supervision
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects and equipment; ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and engage in repetitive motions
  • Bilingual/fluency in Spanish preferred
