General Description:
The Senior Behavior Specialist provides oversight to the Behavior Specialist team and the program of behavioral and social-emotional work. Behavior Specialists are responsible for providing support for students exhibiting academic, social, and behavioral challenges across educational settings and programs in the division. Behavior Specialists use evidence-based practices to deliver intensive services to students, coach school-based staff in appropriate techniques, and collaborate with administrators to provide school-wide frameworks of support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops, manages, assigns, and evaluates the work of the Behavior Specialist team
• Develops and monitors the implementation and progress monitoring of division, school, and student behavior plans
• Facilitates and provides access to the proper training for the Behavior Specialist team and division staff in best practices for the development of Functional Behavior Assessments /Behavior Intervention Plans (FBA/BIPs), implementation of evidence-based behavior strategies, and facilitation of group skills-based supports, data collection, trauma-responsive care, effective interventions, restorative strategies, etc.
• Coordinates the development and implementation of appropriate behavioral support strategies and intervention plans for students 
• Participates and guides school-based student intervention and support teams 
• Consults with general education, exceptional education, administrators, and support staff
• Assists in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Supports with overall development, implementation, and monitoring of a Positive Culture and Climate framework for the division
• Provides crisis response

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, behavior disorders, social work, and/or counseling
• At least five years of successful clinical or classroom setting experience working with students with challenging behaviors
• At least three years working in a supervisory capacity
• Demonstrated skills in evaluation, development, and implementation of positive behavior intervention plans; knowledge of tiered intervention frameworks; knowledge of data collection and analysis for students with behavioral challenges
• Expertise in developing and providing staff development activities for individual schools and the division
