General Description:
Duties performed typically in the school cafeteria. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking and light lifting up to 10 pounds. Effective verbal and written communication skills for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greets and relates to all students, teachers, visitors, parents, school administrators, school board employees, and all other, in a polite and professional manner.
- Promotes a positive lunchroom environment for students, staff and guests. Interacts with students in a manner which is appropriate to their developmental level, being fair, consistent and professional at all times.
- Assists with tasks that contribute toward a neat and orderly cafeteria environment such as wiping tables, picking up trays and silverware, helping children clean up spilled food and trash, and similar tasks, as needed.
- Maintains order and acceptable noise level in the cafeteria and serving lines in accordance with standards relayed by the school principal or designee.
- Assists students with needs that may arise such as opening milk cartons and thermos bottles.
- Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately.
- Encourages good table manners. Performs other duties as assigned by the school principal or designee.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or its equivalency.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work cooperatively and productively with other food service employees, students, staff and others contacted in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented work place.
- Ability to supervise children in an orderly and consistent manner following guidelines supplied by the principal or designee.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with elementary school age children and others.

PAY SCALE: $12.00/hr.
