General Description:
The Exceptional Education Teacher, Adapted Curriculum, is responsible for providing high-quality, individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities who are able to access the adapted curriculum with appropriate accommodations and modifications. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists, and fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve academic and functional growth. The Exceptional Education Teacher, Adapted Curriculum, ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local mandates governing special education services in Virginia.

General Conditions of Work:  Duties performed typically in a school setting. Performs professional work providing teaching and/or training services to students in a specialized subject. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds, vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
